We're excited to announce a new initiative utilizing Anthropic Interviewer to gather insights on your experiences with artificial intelligence, and we invite you to be part of it. Once you complete the interview, you'll have the option to share your insights publicly, allowing a broader audience beyond Anthropic to access and learn from them. Join us by participating here.

We stand at a crucial juncture in AI development. As AI's capabilities expand, it possesses the potential to be both incredibly beneficial and, conversely, more hazardous. Breakthroughs in fields like science and healthcare are occurring rapidly, but this growth comes with increased risks; a single incident related to AI misuse can lead to far-reaching consequences compared to just a year ago.

It’s vital that the evaluation of AI’s advantages and threats isn't relegated solely to tech companies. Your input can play a significant role in steering us, various AI laboratories, and policymakers as we collectively face an ambiguous future. Here are some major questions we aim to address:

- What are your most significant experiences with AI, both the positive and the negative? - Are there aspects of societal structures (such as education, healthcare, or governance) where you would like AI to enact change? - What expectations do you have from the organizations involved in AI development?

This project builds upon a similar effort from last December, which gathered insights from 81,000 individuals regarding their hopes and concerns about AI. The findings from that study helped shape the agenda of the Anthropic Institute, were presented to international leaders at the World Economic Forum, and continue to inform our research on societal impacts and economics.

Since then, both the field of AI and Anthropic have significantly evolved. AI technologies have advanced, more users are engaging with Claude, and public perceptions about AI are shifting. Previously, we shared only broad results and a few select quotes, but this time around, we aim to ensure your thoughts and insights can be accessed by a wider audience.

To help you make an informed decision about sharing your interview, we’ve prepared an FAQ. You can participate here.

**FAQ**

**What is the interview about?**

The interview focuses on your personal experiences with AI and your aspirations for its development. You'll be asked to discuss impactful moments—both positive and negative—as well as any societal changes you would like to see enabled by AI. We aim to capture your insights in your own words, without any pressure to provide specific 'correct' answers.

**Is sharing my interview publicly mandatory?**

No, you have the choice to opt out of public sharing.

**What information is published if I choose to share my interview publicly?**

If you opt to make your interview public, we will publish the entire conversation along with the country associated with your responses. We will not disclose any Claude account information, such as your name or email.

**What advantages are there to sharing my interview publicly?**

Your insights won't just reach us; they’ll be accessible to anyone interested in the impact of AI and how its development can evolve. Researchers and policymakers can read your interview in various languages and examine perspectives from diverse regions, helping enrich the discourse on AI's role in society. This transparency allows the public to verify our findings and hold companies accountable.

This interview will also contribute to the historical record of AI's current moment—one that future historians, journalists, and scholars will analyze. If many participants suggest a change in direction for companies like Anthropic, those remarks will endure in the public sphere.

**What risks are associated with sharing my interview publicly?**

While your Claude account details won’t be shared, it's essential to remember that public interviews may be read by employers, friends, family, and other organizations. Depending on what you share, others may link back to your identity. Even seemingly innocuous details like your job, location, or education can sometimes reveal your identity. We don’t request this information during the interview, but it’s best to avoid sharing any identifiable information.

Once your interview is public, it could be used in ways you might not have intended. Although we can remove our copy if requested, we can't retract what may have been saved or shared by others, making this a semi-permanent decision.

**Could I be identified from my public interview?**

While we will not include identifying information, interviews will not be edited. Consequently, we cannot guarantee anonymity based solely on the content provided. It is possible for someone to use AI or analytical methods to triangulate your identity based on certain shared details. Therefore, we advise against revealing any potentially identifying information.

During the interview, we present examples of sensitive topics to avoid, and you'll have the chance to review your full responses before deciding on public sharing.

**How should I approach the decision to share my interview publicly?**

We clarify the implications of choosing to go public before the interview. While we assure participants that their account details will not be released, there is still a possibility of re-identification based on shared details. We emphasize that public interviews are accessible to everyone, and while you may request to remove our version, we cannot erase what has already been saved by others.

After completion, you'll revisit your responses, weighing the benefits and risks before making a final decision to share your interview publicly.

**What happens if I choose not to share my interview publicly?**

We will still evaluate your feedback as part of our Societal Impacts research, although your full interview will remain unpublished. Aggregate or anonymized insights derived from your responses may still be shared.

**If I decide to share my interview publicly, can I change my mind later?**

Not completely. Once the interview is published, it becomes publicly accessible, and while we can remove our copy upon request, we cannot delete what has already been saved by others. You should treat this decision as final.

**Will my interview be edited before publication?**

No, we will not modify interviews prior to sharing them. We perform a final review post-study and may exclude those deemed inappropriate for publication.

**How will Anthropic utilize my interview?**

We will incorporate your insights into our Societal Impact research and publicly share our conclusions to help guide our product development.

**Can I terminate the interview early and remove the record?**

Yes, you may end the interview at any point by clicking the "End interview" button, resulting in the immediate deletion of your partial responses.

**Who can participate and how long is the interview?**

Running from September 29 to October 6, 2026, this study is available to Free, Pro, and Max users on Claude and Claude Code with accounts at least two weeks old. Each interview should take around 15 minutes and is facilitated by Anthropic Interviewer, an AI that poses questions to you.

**How does this study differ from the December 2025 study?**

We've updated the questions, expanded accessibility to more Claude products, and introduced the option to share your interview publicly for the first time.

**When and where will the interviews be published?**

Interviews will be published online following the completion of the study and our initial analysis.

**What are the limitations of this study?**

Participants will primarily be users of Claude, which does not represent a broad cross-section of the population. Only those willing to make their interviews public will be included in published results, and the questions we pose will influence the responses we receive. However, we believe that this study will provide significant insights into how AI is altering lives in ways that have not been publicly explored before.
