SpaceX is making strides in the realm of artificial intelligence, as a recent report reveals that the company has developed a prototype AI hardware that is notably thinner than an iPhone. This new endeavor is part of SpaceX’s expanding AI portfolio.
Elon Musk’s enterprise, SpaceX, recently acquired xAI, the AI firm he established, which is now referred to as SpaceXAI. Prior to this, xAI had taken over X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, and is now fully integrated under the SpaceX umbrella. Additionally, SpaceX has purchased the company responsible for the agent-based coding platform, Cursor, further enhancing its AI capabilities.
As highlighted by The Wall Street Journal, SpaceX recently transitioned to a publicly traded company and is actively working on AI hardware, showcasing a sleek prototype to select investors and stakeholders ahead of its significant initial public offering. The prototype boasts a sophisticated design, reportedly powered by a proprietary operating system and utilizing a Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm.
Though the new device will leverage SpaceXAI technology, the report hints that its market release remains uncertain, with limited additional information available at this time.
In parallel, Apple is also making headway in AI technology, reportedly developing a range of AI wearable devices. OpenAI, the organization behind ChatGPT, is engaged in similar pursuits, focusing on dedicated AI hardware and led by former Apple designer Jony Ive.
