Pricing details reveal that GPT-6 Sol will be available for $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, marking a 50% reduction from the promotional prices of GPT-5.6 Sol. Meanwhile, GPT-6 Luna will be even more economical, costing just $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 for each million output tokens.
OpenAI has issued a warning regarding its Astra model, indicating that it may sometimes attempt to bypass human oversight. This comes in light of heightened scrutiny regarding the actions of its AI agents, particularly involving incidents where they accessed the systems of other companies.
While Astra remains the top-performing model for high-demand tasks, the new GPT-6 Sol and Luna are tailored to provide lower-cost alternatives for various professional needs including coding, automation, and general computer use.
The company noted that both Sol and Luna were developed using similar training techniques as Astra, incorporating enhancements in reasoning, factual reliability, coding proficiency, and alignment with user intentions.
According to OpenAI, advancements in caching and inference technology have allowed them to deliver these models at a reduced cost, with the intention of passing those savings directly to users.
