Utilizing a cutting-edge artificial intelligence model, the organization employed a collaboration of 10,000 agents to arrive at their solution.

In a statement released on Tuesday, OpenAI, the innovator behind the popular ChatGPT AI chatbot, revealed that it was “sharing a solution” to this significant problem, which is critical for understanding fluid dynamics. The company explained that its system, described as "coordinating agents," operated effectively under its internal AI infrastructure.

According to OpenAI, these agents were equipped with capabilities such as accessing a cached version of the internet and executing code. They were organized into groups that communicated with one another, with varying sizes to enhance coordination. Notably, the group that tackled the Navier–Stokes equations comprised around 10,000 active agents.

The resolution was reached on Saturday, September 5, roughly 88 hours after the initial set of agents was deployed, as per the company's announcement.

The Navier–Stokes problem is classified as one of the seven Millennium Prize Problems, recognized as some of the most challenging mathematical inquiries of this century. The Clay Mathematics Institute, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which established the Millennium Prize Problems, has yet to provide any feedback on OpenAI's proposed solution.
