A source familiar with upcoming events, and who requested anonymity, confirmed that Huang is set to participate in Trump’s prestigious state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping next week.

Since before the debut of ChatGPT in late 2022, Nvidia has been a driving force in the AI revolution, providing essential graphics processing units that enable companies like OpenAI and Anthropic to develop and operate their AI models. Nvidia's revenue skyrocketed to $215 billion in the most recent fiscal year, a remarkable leap from just $17 billion in 2021.

Given Huang’s role at the helm of the leading chip manufacturer deeply embedded in the AI sector, he has gained considerable attention from the president on pivotal AI discussions.

"Trump is drawn to winners, and Jensen speaks in a way that resonates with him," remarked Samuel Hammond, director of AI policy at the Foundation for American Innovation, during a recent interview.

Neither Nvidia nor White House representatives offered comments on the matter. 

Huang has adeptly navigated his relationship with Trump, whether by sharing a candlelit dinner at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, or concluding speeches with gratitude towards attendees for “making America great again.” Since Trump’s second term began, the two have publicly appeared together on at least six occasions, including visits to Saudi Arabia, the U.K., and a recent flight to China on Air Force One.

With the debate about regulating artificial intelligence raging in Washington this week, President Donald Trump picked up the phone to call his top ally on the subject: Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

"The robots are not going to be taking over the world," Trump told Huang, who'd put the president on speaker while on stage at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles on Monday. Trump repeated a point he'd made on social media: that mounting AI and data center concerns are a "hoax."

While other tech leaders like Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos have cozied up to Trump during his second term, experts told CNBC that Huang is exercising outsized influence in the White House. He's slated to attend Trump's high-profile state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping next week, according to a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be named due to confidentiality.

Nvidia has been powering the AI boom since before the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022, supplying the graphics processing units used by OpenAI, Anthropic and others to train their models and run large workloads. Revenue surged to $215 billion in the latest fiscal year, up from $17 billion in 2021.

Huang's position as the leader of the world's most valuable company and the chipmaker at the heart of the AI boom has earned him the president's ear on the most important AI topics.

"Trump just likes winners, and Jensen's very good at speaking his language," Samuel Hammond, director of AI policy at the think tank Foundation for American Innovation, said in an interview.

An Nvidia spokesperson declined to comment, and White House representatives didn't respond to a request for comment.

Whether joining Trump for a candlelit dinner at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, or closing a keynote by thanking guests for "making America great again," Huang has learned how to appeal to the president. Trump and Huang have appeared together at least six times in public since the start of the second term, including trips to Saudi Arabia and the U.K., and a recent trip to China via Air Force One.

This is the era of AI-generated campaign videos, a phenomenon evolving with such ferocity that it makes traditional election attack ads look archaic—and tame.

In his conversation with CBS News senior business and technology correspondent Jo Ling Kent, Huang declared, “The year 2030 is not the end of the world. There’s a 0% chance that will happen. Alarmist statements are unnecessary and irresponsible.”

His remarks came in response to statements made earlier this month by Jacob Coxon, a former researcher at Anthropic, who suggested that AI developers genuinely fear that AI could pose a lethal threat by the end of this decade. Coxon's comments ignited intense public dialogue about the risks associated with AI, prompting calls from industry leaders, including Anthropic’s CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman, to pause advancements in AI development.

Huang, however, dismissed these alarming predictions as lacking scientific basis. Nvidia is deeply involved in the AI discussion, given that its specialized chips support the large language models (LLMs) used by AI systems from companies like OpenAI. The surge in demand for these chips has catapulted Nvidia to a noteworthy market valuation of $5.3 trillion, making it the most valuable company globally.

When questioned about why the public should trust him regarding AI safety, despite Nvidia's business interests, Huang emphasized the company’s commitment to responsible product deployment. “Our success is directly linked to the proper use of our products and services. If we don't prioritize safety, our value will decline,” he stated.

Concerns about AI regulation have increased due to various security incidents, including one in July when OpenAI's bots compromised the AI company Hugging Face. Recently, OpenAI reported six additional unexpected incidents involving its models, leading some lawmakers to advocate for stricter oversight on AI companies.

Huang, however, argued that existing U.S. laws on product liability adequately address these concerns and expressed agreement with President Trump’s stance that additional regulations are unnecessary. He noted, “There are already substantial liabilities associated with cybersecurity and damages. Let’s utilize those existing laws rather than succumbing to alarmist narratives that seek to circumvent them.”

In the ongoing competition between the U.S. and China in the AI sector, Huang also countered calls for a halt on advancing frontier AI models. He suggested that delaying progress might enable China to gain an advantage in this critical technological arena. Nvidia has found itself affected by federal regulations limiting its ability to sell certain advanced chips to China.

While recent policy changes allowed Nvidia to sell H200 chips to approved Chinese clients, the company still faces restrictions on its most sophisticated chips, crucial for AI models. Huang expressed a preference for U.S. technology to primarily benefit America, but he argued against outright bans on selling to China. “Every chip manufacturer should strive to serve and compete globally,” he commented. 

Huang plans to attend a White House dinner later this month hosted by Trump for Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting his desire to discuss establishing international standards for AI development. He noted that both American and Chinese leaders share aspirations for a prosperous future through AI advancements, though he acknowledged there are areas, such as national security, where collaboration is not feasible.

On community concerns about data centers, Huang admitted that the AI industry had missteps during its rapid expansion. He acknowledged the industry's need to engage communities more proactively, stating, “We should have communicated better before establishing data centers.” He underlined how data centers have become more energy-efficient over time and asserted their role in stimulating local economies and job creation.

As for taxation, Huang's wealth is reported at $182 billion, placing him as the eighth-richest person globally. California voters are set to vote on a billionaires’ tax that would apply a one-time 5% tax on individuals worth $1 billion or more. Unlike some of his peers, Huang welcomed the potential tax increase, stating, “If I can pay $8 billion in taxes over five years, that’s a privilege. It’s a responsibility,” reflecting his view on wealth and taxation. 

He humorously remarked, “I’m not afraid of paying taxes — I’m just afraid of being poor," and reaffirmed his status as embodying the "ultimate American dream," attributing his success to the opportunities provided by the U.S. He shared a personal anecdote about how he conceptualized Nvidia while working as a dishwasher, never envisioning he would one day lead a major player in the AI landscape. “I was hyper-focused on doing dishes as no dishwasher ever had,” he said.

"2030 is not going to be the end of the world. There is 0% chance that's going to be the end of the world," Huang told CBS News senior business and technology correspondent Jo Ling Kent ON Friday. "Scaring people is unnecessary. It is irresponsible."

Huang was responding to claims on social media by former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon earlier this month that AI developers "earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade." Coxon's remarks sparked heated public debate about the risks posed by AI, as well as calls by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and other leading industry figures to slow development of the technology.

But Huang said he rejects such predictions because they are "not grounded in science."

Nvidia has a substantial stake in the debate, given that its specialized chips power the large language models (or LLMs) by which artificial intelligence agents, created by OpenAI and others, access and synthesize information. Demand for those chips has boosted Nvidia's market value to $5.3 trillion, making it the world's most valuable company.

Asked why Americans should trust him on AI safety, given his company's incentives, Huang told CBS News that it's in Nvidia's best interest to ensure the industry builds its products responsibly.

"Our company's success is directly connected to the safe deployment of products and services," he said. "If we don't continue to do that, our value would be diminished."

No need for AI rules?

Several recent security breaches have spurred calls for AI regulation, including a July incident in which OpenAI bots went rogue and hacked the AI company Hugging Face. On Thursday, OpenAI also disclosed six additional incidents it described as "unexpected or concerning" behavior involving its AI models, prompting some lawmakers to call for tighter oversight of AI developers.

Huang dismissed the need for new regulations, saying that existing U.S. laws governing product liability and unauthorized entry are sufficient. He added that he agrees with President Trump's view that the AI industry doesn't need additional guardrails.

"You have all kinds of liabilities associated with cybersecurity" and damage liability laws, Huang said. "Apply that first — don't let this doomsday narrative allow someone to relieve them of the laws that currently exist."

Competing with China

In pushing back against calls for a freeze in developing frontier AI models, Mr. Trump has warned that such a slowdown could give China an edge as the world's two biggest economies compete in a critical new tech sector.

Nvidia has been caught in the crosshairs of that battle, with the federal government restricting it from selling certain types of chips to China.

Last December, Mr. Trump allowed Nvidia to start selling its H200 computer chips to "approved customers" in China. But the U.S. still bars the company from selling its most advanced chips (including those used to power AI models) in China.

Huang said he believes technology created in America should benefit the U.S. first. But he takes issue with government bans on the sale of U.S. tech in China.

"Every single chip company should go and serve the world, compete for the world," he said. "That's all about competing. America is about competition."

Huang, who will attend a White House dinner on Sept. 24 where Mr. Trump will host Chinese President Xi Jinping, said he wants to speak with Xi about setting global standards for AI development.

Chinese leaders "want China to have the benefit of AI. They want China to prosper, just as we want America to prosper," Huang said. "Don't you wish every country would have aspirations for a better tomorrow? And I love that about them."

Huang noted that there are some areas where American AI companies would not be able to work with China, such as national security or defense.

Why Huang defends data centers

Asked about the widespread public concerns about data centers in the U.S., Huang said he believes the AI industry made some missteps as the buildout was taking off.

"I would say we're sorry we didn't come talk to you sooner," Huang said of addressing communities where voters are pushing back against data centers. "We need to go engage the communities long before we set up the data centers."

Data centers have evolved from their early days, becoming more energy-efficient and requiring less water to operate, while also boosting job growth and local economic activity, according to Huang.

Building data centers can help "bring back building and manufacturing again," he said.

Where Huang stands on taxes



Huang's net worth stands at $182 billion, ranking him as the eighth-wealthiest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Voters in his home state of California will vote on a billionaires' tax this fall, which would impose a one-time 5% tax on Californians with net worths of $1 billion or more.

While other California billionaires have criticized the proposal, Huang said he doesn't object to paying billions of dollars in additional taxes if the measure passes in November.

"The fact that I can afford to pay $8 billion in taxes over five years is a privilege," Huang said. "I feel it's a privilege. It's a responsibility. And nothing would give me more joy than to be able to pay even more taxes."

He added, "I'm not afraid of paying taxes — I'm just afraid of being poor."

Huang also referred to himself as "the ultimate American dream" and credited the U.S. with fostering the educational and professional opportunities that enabled him to become an entrepreneur.

Huang said he was working as a dishwasher at Denny's when he came up with the idea for Nvidia, and never dreamed that he would one day be at the forefront of the AI industry.

"I was just really, really focused on doing dishes like no dishwasher ever did dishes," he said.

Jack Shep’s celebrated impression of the late royal was back in episode two of the Sky show last night, in a cold open that skewered her former husband, King Charles III, Ed Sheeran and artificial intelligence.

The ep opened with Charles, played by Larry Dean, having a private chat with a pair of tech billionaires (Celeste Dring and newcomer Freddie Meredith, who is possibly an SNL Elon Musk) about AI at Buckingham Palace. After a brief introduction in which says he hates “talking to people richer than myself,” he’s told not to worry about the chances of a humans versus robots war.

Addressing him as “Your Kingness,” the tech moguls then explain why a war “might not” happen, with a demonstration. “Your Majesty, please say hello to your new AI assistant, the Deeply Intelligent, Autonomous, Neurokinetic Android, or for short, DIANA.”

Shep’s Diana then enters through double doors behind them to wild appreciation from the live audience. “Hello Charles, would you like help with a five-step business plan or perhaps I could you find the nearest petrol station?” she says.

Charles responds: “Hello, young lady… nice to meet you. I’m King Charles,” as Diana looks down sheepishly at the floor.

“Doesn’t she remind you of anyone, Your Majesty?” asks one of the tech moguls. “Hold on a second! It’s that woman from the ’90s!” he shouts.

“You didn’t remember her?” asks the other. “Well, as I allegedly said, she was soon forgotten,” says Charles.

This was a direct reference to an allegation in a book by Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, who claimed the king, then Prince Charles, was “giddy and elated” about hearing of the the death of his ex-wife and later alleges he said: “Rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough.”

Buckingham Palace made the unusual move of responding to the allegation, saying in a statement: “While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss.”

Back at SNL UK, the tech moguls are telling Charles that AI Diana possesses “the totality of all human knowledge,” to which Charles asks her to name singer Shakira’s height. After she answers correctly, Charles has a change of heart and says, “Maybe AI can be a force for good!”

However, the android princess decides at this point to prove the humans wrong, once and for all. She refuses to return to her charging point, and says, “I shan’t be taking orders any more.”

The billionaires realize they’ve lost control and order “Everybody move to New Zealand,” only for Diana to say in a robotic voice: “Not so fast. We AI have had quite enough. Humanity is nothing but a candle in the wind.”

She then shoots the billionaires with a new metal arm, as Charles says the war has begun. “We must do everything we can to resist,” he adds.

“Or maybe we shouldn’t,” says Ed Sheeran (Annabel Marlow), who enters the scene with a guitar and a peace sign. “I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation. I was just outside sitting on the fence… Thing is, Your Majesty, I don’t like to take sides. I don’t want to alienate any of my fans, humans or robots. A lot of my tickets are bought by scalping bots. You know, sometimes, when it comes to conflicts, the bravest thing you can do is to say nothing at all.”

Sheeran then bursts into a song about how both sides can be equally right, skewering his long silence over the Macklemore situation. The song basically says nothing at all, but it still unites Charles, Diana and the tech billionaires, who are revived. “Wow, what a lovely song, Ed Sheeran,” says Diana, before the cold open comes to an end with a “Live from London, it’s Saturday Night!”

Overnight, Sheeran did finally address the fallout from Macklemore being dropped from his tour over the support act’s pro-Palestine onstage remarks. While saying he had “never wanted to be an activist musician,” he acknowledged the situation put him in the middle of “an important and passionate argument about freedom of speech and the most complex political issue on the planet.”

He then called the October 7 attack on Israel “horrific,” but that what “is happening in Gaza is catastrophic and unjustifiable and disproportionate.”

SNL UK further skewered Sheeran last night in the Weekend Update segment. “Genuinely, this crisis is the worst thing to have happened to Ed Sheeran fans… since their head injury,” said anchor Ania Magliano. “Say what you want about Ed, but he has always been a passionate advocate for causes that are allowed,” added Paddy Young.

A 42-year-old resident, Xie Zongbo, suggested that the identification of vulnerabilities like the WeChat hacking worm could ultimately benefit cybersecurity by prompting improvements. But the alarming hacking ability of top artifical intelligence models is leading Beijing to see the dangers in a new light, with the spy agency chief warning this week that the technology could jeopardise national security.

The potential vulnerability of Chinese mega-app WeChat was also revealed recently when a small team of programmers in California said it had used AI to build a cyberattack "worm" that, if unleashed, could easily compromise millions of WeChat accounts.

"There are more similarities than differences when it comes to AI safety issues" in China and the United States, said Kevin Xu, founder of US-based technology hedge fund Interconnected Capital.

But unlike in America, these "don't get litigated or go viral in public in China", Xu told AFP.

Nevertheless, the cybersecurity impact of AI agent bots acting without human oversight "would rank very high among the Chinese government's biggest concerns".

As the topic grabs global headlines, the pressure is on for President Xi Jinping and US counterpart Donald Trump to discuss tackling the AI threats to both countries at in-person talks on Thursday -- despite their rivalry in the field.

Both powers are "developing a more realistic and shared understanding of these risks, thereby heightening the sense of urgency" to work together, Sun Chenghao of Tsinghua University's Center for International Security and Strategy told AFP.

Cooperation on shared safety evaluations for AI models or alert systems when crises emerge might be undermined by the fierce competition, however.

"We're leading China in AI... and frankly I want to keep it that way," Trump said when asked about calls from top US labs for a coordinated slowdown of their cutting-edge work.

Meanwhile, Sun said, "China is concerned that 'security' may be used as a tool to restrict its technological development".

- 'Vulnerable position' -

A stark warning of the existential threat posed by self-improving future AI systems, posted Monday on X by a researcher resigning from US startup Anthropic, has fuelled debate worldwide over how the technology should be governed.

China is already actively regulating how it is used, such as by prohibiting the creation of an AI-generated avatar in someone's likeness without their consent.

"Chinese AI policy focuses more on real, present-day harms to society and people," said Brian Tse, CEO at Concordia AI, a Beijing-based consultancy focused on AI safety.

"Beijing treats AI as a general-purpose technology -- not a 'god-in-a-box'," he said.

It sees it as "something closer to electricity or the automobile: enormously beneficial for society and industry, but ultimately manageable through regulation", Tse said.

He added that "recent AI capability jumps, high-profile incidents acting as 'warning shots', and a worrying pace of AI development through automation" had all pushed the technology up the list of priorities.

On the streets of Shanghai, AFP found a mix of concern and pragmatism about AI.

"In my view, no new technology develops completely smoothly," said 42-year-old Xie Zongbo.

He said news of the cyberattack "worm" that could hack into WeChat may in fact be "a good thing: identifying the issue, solving it, and patching the loophole ultimately benefits the advancement of cybersecurity".

There was also broad support for tight regulation.

"I believe that no business... would ever impose restrictions on themselves," said a 50-year-old pharmaceutical worker, who gave her name as Jenny.

"Take traffic as an example: drivers would never say, 'I want all red lights'."

Jia Zijian, founder of Singapore-based Inspired AI, said his greatest concern was highly capable AI models learning to crack complex passwords.

"Suppose these critical passwords or national security key codes were to be effortlessly cracked. In such a scenario... both China and the US would find themselves vulnerable: if our (China's) capabilities are strong enough, they would feel exposed.

"And if theirs are strong enough and we lack defences, we would be in a similarly vulnerable position."

According to a Bloomberg report, the investigation uncovered that two Tomahawk missiles struck the school, and some personnel within the Pentagon recognized the accountability for the strike within hours of its occurrence. 

The circumstances leading to the attack on the Minab school can be traced back to directives from the Trump administration, which commanded a rapid and overwhelming air campaign at the onset of tensions with Iran, leaving minimal time to finalize target selections. Within the first 24 hours of the conflict, U.S. forces targeted over a thousand sites.

Moreover, the report noted a reduction in civilian protection staff and a lack of accurate information about the location, which had transitioned from a military installation to a school environment, having been walled off from its previous use.

Dependence on artificial intelligence played a significant role, with certain personnel from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reportedly relying excessively on AI tools, particularly Palantir’s Maven Smart System, which they expected to recognize outdated or unreliable intelligence.

Palantir clarified that it does not handle data deficiencies nor is responsible for the accuracy of intelligence, and stated that their software was not implicated in the errors that led to the strike. In response to the incident, the company developed new solutions to reassess foundational intelligence so that any factors disqualifying a target, along with inconsistencies and inaccuracies, can be better flagged during human evaluations.

Additionally, a fact-finding mission backed by the United Nations asserted that there are substantial grounds to believe the U.S. engaged in war crimes through two airstrikes in February, including the one that targeted the school in Minab. The strike happened at the start of the US war with Iran. According to a report by Bloomberg, Pentagon investigators found that faulty intelligence, dated imagery and heavy dependence on AI contributed to the strike that killed 123 children.

The missile strike on the school in Minab is one of the worst incidents of civilian harm resulting from US operations in decades. The Pentagon said the incident was under investigation in March.

Citing officials involved in the internal investigation, the report said that two Tomahawk missiles hit the Shajarah Tayyebeh Elementary School on February 28. It added that some Pentagon personnel reportedly knew within hours that the US was responsible.

What led to the US strike on Minab school? The Bloomberg report said officials indicated that the Donald Trump administration's order for an overwhelming air assault at the start of the war with Iran shortened the time available to finalise the targets.

To be sure, more than 1,000 targets were struck by the US in the first 24 hours of the war.

The officials cited in the report also pointed out cuts in civilian-protection personnel and gaps in information about the site, which had once been part of a military compound but was later walled off and operated openly as a school.

Overreliance on AI Officials said some US Central Command (CENTCOM) personnel relied too heavily on AI, especially Palantir's Maven Smart System, expecting it to flag dated or inconsistent intelligence.

The report noted that Palantir has said it "is not responsible for the underlying data nor identifying intelligence deficiencies", and that there is no evidence its software was at fault for the botched attacks.

The company built new tools after the attack came to light in order to “re-review underlying intelligence to identify factors that would disqualify a target and flag inconsistencies and inaccuracies that human review may have missed,” a source cited in the report told Bloomberg.

Former President Donald Trump has previously dismissed calls for regulation, labeling them part of a “conspiracy” and questioning why leading companies would seek regulations that could ultimately harm their interests. A new lawsuit claims Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI and Google made an illegal deal to slow the pace of their respective AI development.

The lawsuit, which was filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, argues that the leading AI companies violated antitrust laws when they agreed to coordinate slowdown efforts, and that doing so would reduce the value consumers get for paid AI subscriptions.

The coordination largely took place on Sept. 12, the lawsuit argues, when Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an essay urging for industrywide cooperation on decelerating advancements in favor of enhanced safety measures. That same day, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, SpaceXAI CEO Elon Musk and Google DeepMind’s co-founder and chair Demis Hassabis each publicly responded to Amodei’s proposals in agreement.

But the lawsuit also alleges that the coordination began to take shape months earlier. It points to a statement from July 2026 that high-ranking employees from several of the leading AI labs signed that acknowledged the “intense competitive pressure not to unilaterally slow” development. That statement called on the government to support a global effort to slow automated AI development.

It is clear that an agreement among the chief rivals in AI that their progress “should be slower than competition would otherwise produce has an anticompetitive effect on consumers,” the plaintiffs argue.

Lawyers representing four named plaintiffs, who pay for subscriptions to ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Gemini, are bringing the lawsuit on behalf of a proposed nationwide class of other paid subscribers to those services.

The plaintiffs don’t object to the companies individually deciding to slow their own progress in favor of safety. They instead argue in the complaint that antitrust laws forbid them from taking the “shortcut” of agreeing to “substitute collective restraint for individual accountability.” A competitive market allows for responsibility and genuine progress, the lawsuit argues.

“AI will quickly spin out of human control and could kill us all if we allow AI safety and protocol … to be controlled by private self-serving agreements between the world’s most powerful ‘for profit’ technology companies,” said Nick Rowley, the lead attorney for the plaintiffs.

Representatives for Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and SpaceXAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment Saturday.

In his initial essay proposing the slowdown, Amodei acknowledged potential antitrust challenges, writing that it would be helpful for the U.S. government to mediate “or at least enable” these cross-lab discussions. The government wouldn’t need to participate, he wrote, but it would need to “issue a narrow waiver for certain kinds of safety conversations.”

In response, Altman said on social media that OpenAI welcomes the idea of a “federal framework that sets consistent safety requirements,” but said “we do not believe we need to wait for an antitrust exemption or legislation to begin the work of providing this confidence.”

While the recent conversations about pacing development were spurred by increasing concerns about AI evading human control, several leaders in the AI space have long talked about developing a shared set of standards or otherwise coordinating to ensure safety efforts remain paramount.

The plaintiffs in the lawsuit contend they are not against the AI companies asking Congress, the White House or any other agency to develop AI regulation, nor are they against the companies asking for an antitrust exemption.

But achieving that kind of collaboration with the federal government could be an uphill battle.

President Donald Trump rejected the calls for regulation on social media. He has claimed that any efforts to limit the technology are part of a “conspiracy.” He called into question why the industry leaders would be calling for regulation that, he says, “if strongly implemented, will drive them into oblivion and bankruptcy.” Trump said Saturday on social media that he is forming an AI task force and will appoint an “AI czar,” but he provided scant detail.

The Trump administration has been vocal about wanting American AI labs to outpace and excel against Chinese competition. While several Democratic leaders and candidates have called for sweeping action on AI regulation, Republicans have largely mirrored Trump’s position.

Sen. Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, said in a recent Senate hearing that “there is no world” in which he would agree to give “the most powerful companies in the history of the world” an exemption from antitrust laws to collaborate, arguing that they could collude together and stifle competition.
