In a bid to draw in a tech-savvy clientele, a bar in Beijing is incorporating artificial intelligence into its offerings. Located in the bustling Zhongguancun area, often referred to as China's Silicon Valley, the AGI Bar has become a popular spot, brimming with customers engaged on their laptops.

Recently, many patrons placed their drink orders and immediately connected to the bar's Wi-Fi to set up an AI agent that allows them to utilize free tokens provided by the venue. Manager Yang Yuan explained that since its opening in June of last year, the bar has been granting these tokens to anyone who orders a drink and installs a specific plug-in on their laptop for AI access. The drink menu features various options, including its popular AGI beer, affordably priced at 9.9 yuan (approximately US$1.47).

The bar is equipped with two Nvidia DGX Spark computers that run the DeepSeek-V4-Flash model on-site, enabling patrons to explore this AI technology for free. Yang, however, refrained from sharing the monthly token consumption figures, stating that the expenses are managed by the bar's owner.

The establishment's name pays homage to artificial general intelligence—an advanced AI concept aiming to achieve or exceed human-level capabilities. Inside, guests can find walls adorned with logos and products from prominent Chinese AI firms such as Alibaba Group and Tencent Holdings. Notably, Alibaba is the parent company of the South China Morning Post.
