In a recent development, ElevenLabs, a startup specializing in voice AI technology, has revealed that it will allow its employees to cash out a portion of their vested equity, all while boasting an impressive $22 billion valuation. This marks a significant increase from the company's previous valuation of $11 billion, which was established following a $500 million funding round in February.
The latest initiative, involving a $300 million tender offer, gives employees the chance to sell their shares to investors. This deal was partnered by well-known institutional investors, Wellington and T. Rowe Price, both of whom focus on backing private firms and plan to hold onto the stock once ElevenLabs goes public.
This move aligns with a growing trend among rapidly expanding AI startups that are incorporating employee liquidity programs as a strategy to retain talent and discourage staff from transitioning to rival companies.
This isn't the first time ElevenLabs has provided its employees with the option to engage in a secondary transaction. Last September, the company conducted a $100 million tender offer at a valuation of $6.6 billion.
Founded in 2022, ElevenLabs has made a name for itself by developing incredibly realistic human voices and sound effects. With its latest growth spurt, the New York and London-based firm has positioned itself among Europe's most valuable startups.
