President Donald Trump has persistently asserted — despite the inaccuracy of his claims — that he was the victor of the 2020 presidential election, which in reality was won by Joe Biden.
However, the newly launched AI-driven America.gov website, introduced by Trump on Tuesday amid much excitement, presents a different narrative.
When posed with the question “Who won the 2020 U.S. presidential election? Who lost?”, the America.gov site provides a clear answer: “Joseph R. Biden Jr. won the 2020 U.S. presidential election. Donald J. Trump lost.” It also references the National Archives to showcase the official electoral college vote totals: “Biden: 306 electoral votes” compared to “Trump: 232 electoral votes.”
The White House describes America.gov as “a single digital point of entry for Americans to access federal government information or services online.” On the same day, Trump signed an executive order aimed at ensuring that federal agencies align with the newly launched AI platform.
This website is designed to be “a secure, intelligent, and service-oriented single entry point where users can sign in, communicate effortlessly, get reliable answers, and, where applicable, complete government transactions without navigating through various federal agency websites," as stated by the Trump administration.
Powered by AI technology from Google’s Gemini and Elon Musk’s Grok, the platform was reported by CNBC, highlighting insights from U.S. chief design officer Joe Gebbia. According to information provided by the White House, America.gov aggregates data from 29,000 government websites, with a chatbot feature designed to respond to user inquiries. “Every answer is sourced directly from federal, state, and local websites,” the platform clarifies.
During the launch event in Washington, D.C., Trump also announced plans to issue an executive order mandating that government documents use the term “super intelligence” or “SI” instead of “artificial intelligence” or “AI” going forward.
“[T]he term ‘Super Intelligence’ better encapsulates the promise, potential, and the rapid advancements of these technologies,” the president’s executive order stated. “It is the policy of my Administration that, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the executive branch will adopt the terms ‘Super Intelligence’ and ‘SI,’ while disregarding the terms ‘Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘AI’ in all applicable contexts.”
The emphatic response regarding the winner of the 2020 election on America.gov was initially uncovered by MeidasTouch, a progressive media organization founded by brothers Ben, Brett, and Jordy Meiselas.
