There are days when I feel more certain about the potential implications of artificial intelligence, while others leave me with a sense of hope tinged with doubt. This fluctuation in confidence is something many share as we navigate the complexities of AI's future.
The dual potential of AI to disrupt our workforce or pose existential threats is a debate that remains unresolved. Nonetheless, I would contend that the same core issue underpins both the concern over widespread job displacement and the fear of AI posing lethal hazards.
If we achieve artificial superintelligence within the next two to ten years, it will inherently mean that these systems outperform humans in all cognitive functions. One critical area impacted will be their ability to create advanced robotic systems, leading them to excel in all physical tasks shortly thereafter. While there is a significant need to boost manufacturing capabilities, progress on that front is already underway.
