It's becoming increasingly apparent just how eager tech companies are to encourage users to engage with their artificial intelligence functionalities, regardless of whether or not they want to. To push this agenda, they are incorporating buttons into their interfaces and deploying pop-up prompts designed to persuade users to interact with their AI tools.
Take Google Docs, for instance. The platform has introduced a prominent Gemini bar at the bottom of the interface, which is currently being rolled out to select users. I first encountered this feature back in April while collaborating with editors on my Google Docs account. It turns out, I was among the lucky test group. Interestingly, I know individuals who have yet to see this feature, and I've come across reports indicating that it has appeared for some users just in recent weeks, suggesting a varied rollout.
For those who do see the Gemini bar but prefer not to have it cluttering their workspace, there’s a straightforward solution. Simply click on the Gemini option in the menu bar, then hover over "Bottom bar preferences" and select "Turn off" to hide it.
