Sable, a groundbreaking AI startup founded by four Harvard alumni less than a year ago, has successfully secured $45 million in funding from Sequoia Capital and 8VC. The company aims to develop an innovative “AI employee” designed to handle customer interactions comprehensively—from initial inquiry to final sale. Sable claims that its technology surpasses traditional chatbots by enabling capability to navigate software interfaces, showcase products, answer intricate questions, and provide real-time guidance to buyers.
The funding round was spearheaded by Sequoia Capital and 8VC, with additional contributions from BoxGroup, SV Angel, and the Valor Atreides AI Fund, along with the involvement of notable figures including founders from Suno, HubSpot, and Cognition. Shaun Maguire from Sequoia and Joe Lonsdale, co-founder of both 8VC and Palantir, will join Sable's board of directors.
Founded in October 2025, Sable was established by Nim Ravid (CEO), Leon Chen, Linda He, and Itamar Rocha, who met while studying at Harvard University and conducted research in various fields such as reinforcement learning and multimodal AI. The team comprises individuals with experience at prestigious organizations including SpaceX, Google, Meta, and Together AI.
Currently, Sable employs around 15 team members in the United States and is expanding its recruitment efforts in Israel, where Ravid sees extensive AI talent. He emphasized the unique and experienced technological skills in Israel, stating that the company has a chance to engage such talent with significant AI challenges.
Prior to launching Sable, Ravid garnered recognition both in Israel and internationally through the Survived To Tell initiative, developed in response to the Hamas attack on October 7. This initiative aimed to share the personal narratives of survivors and hostage families, reaching millions online. Additionally, Ravid served as a student representative on Harvard University’s Committee to Combat Anti-Semitism.
Sable is venturing into a market where businesses are increasingly exploring AI assistants, yet many customer interactions still heavily rely on human employees. Sable points out that the current online purchasing experience—especially for complex software and AI products—is often disjointed. Customers typically navigate various stages of the sales process, encountering different representatives for qualification calls, product demonstrations, sales discussions, and onboarding. This fragmentation leads to a lack of context, redundant conversations, and prolonged response times.
While conventional AI chatbots have automated simple functions like drafting text or summarizing content, they struggle to explain product functionalities effectively. Traditional chatbots mostly engage in text-based dialogue and are incapable of demonstrating products, navigating software interfaces, or collaborating live with users.
In response, Sable has introduced Aidan, an advanced AI system intended to function as a digital employee managing customer interactions from start to finish. Aidan stands out from conventional chatbots by being able to “see” what users are viewing on their screens, maneuver through software interfaces, articulate features, and guide customers through live demonstrations.
The technology utilizes Sable’s concept of “Interactive Intelligence,” which merges real-time browser navigation, computer vision, along with voice and video capabilities to facilitate interactions in a shared environment. Ravid described Aidan as capable of communicating directly with buyers throughout the purchasing process, operating independently of human involvement. He noted that achieving natural, low-latency, and high-accuracy interactions posed significant AI challenges that the company has addressed.
Central to Sable’s offering is LiveBox, a virtual workspace allowing Aidan to showcase products directly to prospects. The platform can tackle complex inquiries, gauge customer engagement, collect feedback, and extract insights from interactions.
Companies supply Aidan with their internal assets such as sales call recordings, documentation, marketing content, and interviews with leading employees. Sable transforms this input into a continuously evolving “Brain”—a knowledge base that enhances the AI employee’s responses and comprehension of the organization’s product positioning.
Currently, Aidan is operating in production for clients like Notion and Decagon, alongside various large public enterprises, though additional client names remain undisclosed.
