OpenAI announced on Thursday that its Chief Revenue Officer, Denise Dresser, will be leaving her position, just shy of a year since she joined the firm known for its advancements in artificial intelligence. Her departure is particularly noteworthy as OpenAI prepares for what many anticipate will be a highly successful initial public offering (IPO).
According to a company statement, Dresser is stepping down "to pursue other opportunities." In her place, OpenAI has appointed Dali Rajic, who formerly held the titles of president and chief operating officer at cybersecurity firm Wiz.
In a LinkedIn post shared on Thursday, Dresser expressed her gratitude for her time at OpenAI, stating, "The opportunity to work hands-on with the most transformative technology in the world has been nothing short of incredible. I am so proud of what we have accomplished and, even more, of how this team has shown up for our customers and one another."
Dresser's exit marks a significant shift within the company's leadership, as it follows closely on the heels of another senior departure. On Tuesday, Brad Lightcap, an executive who had been with OpenAI for eight years, announced his own decision to leave, indicating on X that he was ready to "start something new."
Lightcap was a key figure at OpenAI and had a long-standing relationship with CEO Sam Altman. In contrast, Dresser was brought on board in December after a successful tenure exceeding a decade at Salesforce. Her exit raises concerns for OpenAI, particularly due to her expertise in enterprise operations, which was essential for competing against rival Anthropic.
Additionally, Dresser had assumed many of Lightcap's responsibilities in April when the company announced that he would be transitioning to focus on "special projects."
