In a recent regulatory submission, Netflix disclosed that it invested $587 million in cash to acquire InterPositive, a startup co-founded by acclaimed actor and director Ben Affleck.

The streaming giant first made the acquisition public in March, with Affleck expressing a desire to “protect the power of human creativity.” He explained that InterPositive’s AI technologies are designed to assist filmmakers in enhancing their footage during post-production, addressing common production hurdles such as missing scenes, background alterations, and lighting discrepancies.

At the time of the announcement, Netflix confirmed that the entire team from InterPositive would be integrated into the company, with Affleck stepping in as a senior advisor. However, specific financial details of the transaction were initially withheld. A later report from Bloomberg estimated the deal's value could be as high as $600 million.

In its latest earnings update, Netflix mentioned that approximately 300 of its titles have already incorporated generative AI technology.
