Elon Musk announced on Wednesday his intention to produce a feature-length adaptation of Homer’s "The Odyssey," emphasizing that it will be "historically accurate" and true to the original intentions of the legendary writer.
The tech mogul, aged 55, shared a three-minute clip from a scene in the epic poem, which was reportedly generated by X’s Grok Imagine. Musk stated, “Before this year concludes, Grok Imagine will create a full-length film of The Odyssey that honors Homer’s artistry and is faithful to historical context.”
This declaration comes amid ongoing discussions surrounding the casting choices in Christopher Nolan's recent film interpretation of "The Odyssey," which premiered over the weekend. A particular point of contention has been the casting of Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy.
Musk has been vocal about his criticism of "The Odyssey" for several months, having previously shared a post that criticized the casting of Nyong'o claiming it disrespects Homer. The post highlighted that the poem describes Helen as "fair-skinned" and "blonde," indicating that her beauty was so compelling it instigated a war.
In a previous response, Musk commented, “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity,” echoing conservative commentator Matt Walsh’s remark that it’s hard to believe anyone views Nyong'o as "the most beautiful woman in the world." Musk further claimed that Nolan is catering to awards considerations with his diverse casting.
Fox News Digital has reached out to representatives for Christopher Nolan for a statement.
Nolan’s "The Odyssey" achieved remarkable success, garnering over $264 million globally for its opening weekend, marking the highest debut of his career since he has directed notable titles including "The Dark Knight" trilogy and "Oppenheimer."
