Anthropic has officially claimed the title of the most valuable artificial intelligence firm in Silicon Valley, following the announcement of a substantial $65 billion Series H funding round, which has elevated its valuation to $965 billion. This significant leap places it ahead of its main competitor, OpenAI.
Reports from CNBC in late April indicated that Anthropic was in discussions to secure new investments. The latest funding round, led by prominent investors such as Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, has nearly tripled the company's valuation since February, when it stood at $380 billion.
In contrast, OpenAI was valued at $852 billion in late March after securing a record-breaking funding round of $122 billion.
Anthropic's soaring revenue is largely attributed to the success of its AI coding assistant, Claude Code. In the latest update, the company announced an impressive revenue run rate of $47 billion, a significant rise from $30 billion earlier this year and a stark increase from the $10 billion revenue it reported last year.
