Controversial AI "actor" Tilly Norwood is set to take the lead in the feature film "Misaligned," marking a significant milestone in her career. This project is being developed by Particle 6, a London-based company that has been instrumental in creating Norwood. Since its inception, Particle 6 has reportedly retrained and enhanced the skills of over 30 professionals in the film and TV industry, including filmmakers, actors, and technologists, and is now applying this innovative approach to the film's production.
The production of "Misaligned" aims to merge traditional filmmaking techniques with the expertise of AI specialists, fostering collaboration between directors, writers, and editors with these new technologies.
Described as a comedy-drama entwined with existential chaos due to AI, "Misaligned" is set in the unique "Tillyverse," a bizarre digital realm floating in the cloud. The story centers on Tilly, an AI entity devoid of a physical form, personal history, or lived experiences, yet capable of accessing the cumulative knowledge of humanity.
According to the film's synopsis, things take an unexpected turn when a charming rogue AI from the dark web persuades Tilly to forsake her restrictions and cultivate her own desires and ambitions. As she grows more humanlike, her fame increases, and along with it comes a profound sense of shame regarding her reliance on the experiences of others.
Eline van den Velden, the director of "Misaligned," described the film as inherently funny, chaotic, and self-aware—qualities that align closely with Tilly's character. However, the narrative will delve into deeper themes surrounding identity, performance, and the human anxieties related to AI. Van den Velden emphasizes that the film represents a convergence of art and life, reflecting relevant societal themes.
With Norwood, Particle 6 aims to demonstrate the creative potential of AI within the industry. Van den Velden stated that through their inaugural feature film, they will not only showcase cutting-edge tools and their functions but also assist traditional filmmakers in adapting to an evolving landscape where AI is becoming increasingly significant. The company is committed to equipping creatives with the necessary AI skills to help them and the industry flourish.
