Sons of Legion has become a prime target for AI-driven scams, and several factors contribute to this unfortunate trend. Firstly, the band resonates with an older audience, who may find themselves more vulnerable to convincing deepfake technology. As an independent group, they foster a strong connection with their fans but face limitations in resources to combat these scams. Additionally, their social media presence has seen remarkable growth, skyrocketing from 12,000 Facebook followers in January 2025 to an impressive 2.3 million.
“Our fans share a deep emotional investment in us as a band,” remarks Daddy Jack, a band member alongside McInnis. “People are forming friendships and even discovering lifelong partners within our community. This creates a ripe opportunity for scammers, capitalizing on the sincerity of individuals who would never dream of deceiving others themselves.”
